Privacy Policy

Thanks for visiting the website of the Superficials.  If you’re here, and you’re viewing this, we’ll assume that you’ve used the site, and you want to continue to use the site, but you’re worried about giving us information about you.  In the words of that great writer, Douglas Adams:  Don’t Panic.

Here’s what we use personal information we collect from this site for without asking your permission:  Practically nothing.  We do keep up with how many people have been here, and we try to keep up with whether or not you’ve been here before.  Why?  We like to know how many fans we have checking out the website.  It makes us feel good to know that you fans are out there and checking us out.  The record labels also like to know how many of you out there are checking us out.  And you do want us to get signed to a label, right?

If you sign up for our newsletter, on the other hand, we will be sending you occasional emails, known affectionately enough as newsletters.  You did ask for them, right?  We probably will send you other things you might like to know- when our next concert is, for example, or when we have some cool new swag for you.  If you get tired of it, that’s cool; just opt out.

If you want to know the more techie, legalese stuff about our site’s privacy policy, our webmaster has been kind enough to put the following together for you:

Cookies
This Web site uses cookies to help us collect information about users. The only real cookies involved are those used by Wordpress for statistics, so I have some idea how often my site is used.  These cookies can be disabled in major web browsers.  Please see your browser’s documentation or help options for more information on how to disable cookies.

Information Collection
We collect certain information about users who visit this site, including user actions and click paths, domain name/IP addresses and browser types, as well as other information. This information is used solely to track referrals and analyze user behavior. We also collect personal information, including email addresses, from registered users.  This information is only used to contact you back if you contact us, so that you can retrieve lost passwords, etc.

Distribution of Information
We may share information with government agencies or other companies helping us to investigate or prevent fraud. We may do so when: (1) permitted or required to do so by law; or, (2) preventing or attempting to prevent actual or potential unauthorized actions or fraud; or, (3) investigating past fraud. We will not however share user information, including email addresses, with third parties for marketing purposes.

This policy may be changed at any time (but only if we have to). Any changes will be posted. You are encouraged to review the privacy policy each and every time you visit the site (because the lawyers say it’s best that way).
